Machine Robo Photoshop Fun!

I get bored a lot of the times that I am supposed to be backing up files, scanning stuff or just creating new (more significant) bits to post here. This collection of pics is what is pretty typical of those times.

Machine and Gobots had their fair share of alternate color variations, many never even seeing retail shelves. But I'm the type of collectors who would have loved to see more. So here's a few I've come up with.

Machine Robo Battle Robo (Gobots Tank)
My favorite toy is the Battle Robo/Tank figure, and he never had an alt color. These 3 pics show a couple random attempts.

Black with Red: This one is pretty cool, I would have loved this one. Sure it would have been a bit dark for an early Machine Robo release, but a Gobots late series re-color would have worked.

Now one of the these above work for me, one doesn't.

Green with Yellow: Love it. Tank, being a tank should have had a green re-color variant. If not the lighter green than maybe a dark olive. Hell, maybe even a camo pattern could have worked. Maybe a Photoshop project for another day.

Red with Yelllow: Gah, I can't believe it, but I do not like this Tank. The red here, maybe the shade, just doesn't work. I think red does work on this figure, but maybe another red, and that'll come later in the post.

Machine Robo Super Car Robo (Gobots Turbo)
Never had this guy as a kid, my brother did. The character in the Gobots cartoon never really grabbed my attention, but later in my collecting life I would learn to appreciate the toy more on it's own merits.

Yellow body/Green body: A bit of lemon and lime here. I know that a more orange-yellow version was released in Japan, but this bright happy yellow looks great on this toy. Sports cars look awesome in yellow, and this guy really proves that. The green doesn't look bad, it just doesn't feel right. Together they look good, but apart, the green is a bit of a snoozer.

Pink body/Black body: As forward thinking as Gobots was with the inclusion of so many female gender robots, I don't think the pink color Turbo would have sold so well. It's looks fantastic to me, but I'm weird. A black version of this toy was sort of released in Brazil, it's a long story, and best avoided here, but this one looks better to me. I like how it looks, like the yellow version, it's looks fast and sleek.

  2. Yeah probably. When I need a break from other projects doing this type of thing helps me out. Clears my mind of the work for a bit.
