[私のホビー生活] 私のホビーニューイヤー: [My Hobby Life] My hobby new year.

It's the start of a new year, 2015 is upon us, and I should be trying hard to hold onto whatever resolutions I thought up to improve myself. But, this year is a bit of a "soft" start, 5 days in and I haven't nailed down those resolutions quite yet, and I haven't really did much more than be super sick. One thing I had mentioned just over a week ago on FB was that I wanted to make sure all blog drafts and content from 2014 was published before the turn of the year. Well, getting sick really kind of killed that plan.

I'm slowly recovering and will start finishing out the 2014 content while simultaneously posting the new 2015 stuff. I don't want old material to keep me from what I am fresh on working and excited about. In that theme of closing out 2014, I got the last box of print material from Japan today. As of right now, I'm unsure of where my collecting future lies in regards to printed items.

There's a few reasons I'm looking at no longer investing time and money into print media collecting. One issue really is the cost of it all, the other is people just don't appreciate the material. I think a great deal of collectors are incredibly ignorant about some things, and while they may blow $6000 on an arguably rare toy, they only think that a rare book should be bought by someone else and then scanned and posted online for them to download for free. And God forbid you put any watermarks on the pics.

I did pick up some great toys this year, one showing up just last week. As a gift to myself, I picked up one of the last Tonka Gobots I needed for my sealed carded collection, Warpath. Just shortly before that I was able to grab another Bandai Robot Machine Men figure and at a great price.

In 2014 I was also able to finish off my deliberately slow building collection of Takara Mech Warriors. I guess it was slow cause I waited for the perfect price on each one, and they were low priority collection items. Not to take anything away from them or how much I enjoy them, just after you complete a Transformers Mini-Spies collection, you basically already have the toys themselves but in different colors.

Some other highlights of 2014 found me hitting the thousand count mark for Robotech Robolinks and Takara Blockman figures. I didn't even realize it until I had to clean up my collection storage area and in an attempt to properly stores the toys I started counting them. Was a nice surprise to see how many I had, I haven't been actively buying them up in a couple years.

All in all 2014 was a pretty good collecting year. I would say I sat in "neutral" for most of the year, not going too far in reverse, and not going too recklessly forward. Let's see what 2015 brings.
