Wantlist Check-Offs & March Bargain Buys. ( Microman Imaginext Star Wars )

With it being just a few days out of March I feel like I'm getting to this posting in a  much quicker frame of time than I did my January/February round-ups. March started a bit slow, so there's not quite the amount of items to cover as I had with my last post. I don't really think it was until 2 weeks in that anything of substance even came in through my door.

My first batch of news items are a bit of a cheat in terms of March gains, because these were bought and paid for in either the last week of December 2015, of the first week of 2016. It just took a few months to actually get them in hand. The bulk of this batch is re-buys, the Microman figures and CG-Robo being toys I'd owned before and sold. The last three items were just thrown in the same auction lot as the Microman figures and since it costs me money to eliminate items from my winnings and costs me money to ship, I figure why not just keep them and figure out what I want to do with them later.
Imaginext Firestorm Sinestro Cheetah Batman V. Superman Batmobile DC Comics Batgirl Flash
A few days after my Japanese box came in is I guess where the real March buying starts. And of course it's Imaginext that gets it going. I lucked out and found the latest Imaginext Target exclusive DC Comics figure packs, Firestorm and Sinestro & Cheetah. A good deal of collectors, not to mention kids and parents are still looking for these a month after I scored a set. And my finds come 2 months after others reported finding them back in early January. While I can chalk up a bit of the difficulty in getting these in stores to greedy scalpers, a lot of the blame lays with Target and maybe even a bit with Fisher-Price. Hopefully with some recent West Coast sightings starting again there's hope that a second wave of stock is heading in from China.

The Flash toy was only made known to the public via some pics on Kmart's website about 2 weeks prior to the first toy being listed on Ebay. Out of the blue images of the Flash and Batgirl popped up, and then into Kohl's stores. With the finding and reveal of the back package of the figures online collector's got a glimpse of a new Batmobile. I was lucky enough to find one. With the toy in hand it was easy to see that it's design is based of the new Batman V. Superman Batmobile, but in more kid friendly colors. And I gotta say, more preferable colors to me as well. With both the Flash, Batmobile and a week later Batgirl being Kohl's buys I got them quite a bit below their tagged prices due to sales and coupons. I think my Batgirl was under $4.

My Kohl's shopping extended on past just I Imaginext and into Star Wars. Maybe you recall my post about not buying a Star Wars pack on clearance last year and realizing that I was going to have to resort to an overpriced pick-up from Ebay. Well I found the 2-pack with the very figure I wanted from the set on sale at Kohl's, for about the same price that I would have paid for the clearance toy. So all ended well on that mistake. Pretty happy to add another type of Scout Trooper to my collection. Wicket however, that figure will likely make it's way into my nephew's collection.
Star Wars Rebels Missions Darth Vadar Ahsoka Tano the Force Awakens
I like Darth Vadar, I'm really getting into the Star Wars Rebels cartoon and because I absolutely adore really awesome sales, this was a no-brainer purchase. This was less than half of normal retail price. The Vadar is a Rebels styled sculpt and a cool addition to have in my collection. Ahsoka Tano is cool, but without me seeing much of the later Clone Wars series I don't have quite a connection to the character, but her appearances in Rebels is helping with that.

I really love the package design and art for these new sets being released mostly in connection with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys. Plus as a collector, any figures in a box that came be opened, enjoyed and then put back in package for storage or dust-less display is fantastic.
Imaginext DC Comics Poison Ivy Batman Star Wars Hero Mashers Storm Trooper
March came to a close with some really cheap close-out/clearance deals from my Kroger grocery store of all places. As it turns out the store was doing a re-set of it's toy section and they were eliminating some things. What doesn't make sense to me is that the Imaginext was part of a new display for the Batman V. Superman movie and not in the toy aisle proper. And only a handful of the many toys were marked down. This single Star Wars Hero Mashers was priced at $2.09, while all the others were $3.30 on sale, not clearance. I don't know why these were priced as low as they were and I didn't make a fuss about it.

I checked back a few times that week to see if anything new was marked down, but aside from some Barbie stuff nothing cool was added.I did pick up some of the sale priced Star Wars Hero Mashers just because $3 a pop is such a great price. The Vadar is a duplicate, the Bossk is for me, and the Kanan and Anakin Skywalker ended up in my nephew's Easter basket. Now if they'd only get in Greedo and Admiral Ackbar my Star Wars Masher collection would be complete.
